June 2025 Monthly Roundup
Greetings from Detroit, Waywards reader! I’m writing this from the Motown metro airport. I flew to Michigan for the inaugural Emergence Workplace Organizing Committee “Unite & Win” Organizing Conference late last week, and I’m returning to Riverside today.
I didn’t author any stories for commission this month, but I have two that I’m working on, including one about the conference that the Economic Hardship Reporting Project and Nonprofit Quarterly are co-publishing. Both pieces should be online later this month or by early August at the latest. Granted, these things are often subject to change depending on evolving publication schedules and the whims of editors, as regular Waywards readers ought to know.
To the point, a piece I got commissioned to update that I (re-)submitted a while back has yet to be published. Perhaps you’ll see it eventually.
I also didn’t complete any poems this month, though I’m nearly done with one I’ve been writing to the beat of a recorded drum track. I also submitted the proposal for the book I’m writing, slowly, about the 2016 coordinated prison strike. The proposal included drafts of the first three chapters. We’ll see what comes of it, won’t we, Waywards reader?
I’ll leave you, dear Waywards reader, with photos I took while in Detroit, on and around the campus of Wayne State University, where the conference took place.
